The accidents in the street that sustain us

First the restive, urgent, surprising rain this morning as first light fumbled it’s way here, then, later in the day, this lovely email from a Chippo gardener, Paul:

” I want to give names for the compost bins….
Maybe pull name sugestions from a hat?
My 1st proposal is Thomas (the bin thats had the highest temp) after Thomas the tank engine because it’s always steaming away….. “

The accidents of the street – such as this – are rich and various.  We garden in the street, and things happen we can’t predict.

And so, of course, the first bin to be painted and to be used to obtain comments upon will be called Thomas.

And here are some concepts we’re looking at; what do you think of them?

Myrtle Street Aerobin Microscopic Concept 1

Thanks, Paul.  And thanks to Graham Chalcroft the artist.

The designs certainly are psychadelic! Perhaps most fitting for a compost bin named after Thomas the Tank Engine (narrated of course by Ringo Starr).

Love the concept of microscopic creatures – always easy to forget there’s a little ecosystem in each compost bin (hopefully). Can’t wait to see Thomas!
