Go to this fish cafe

A good discovery to celebrate endings and beginnings at this time of the year; a fish shop and cafe which sells only fish caught sustainably and will help you match-make local high quality wines to go with your choice.

Fish & Co.  NOTE – their web site shows what fish they have for sale.

You can go there for dinner during the week and lunch on the weekends, take away and wet fish to cook yourself.

At  - 41 Booth St, Annandale, NSW.  9660 5575.  Started by Tom Kime who has written four books, including Fishtales which describes adventures in different fisheries around the world which are sustainably caught and it won 2011 World Gourmand award for best sustainable book.

As their site says, “Love your fish? Be a consumer with a conscience.”

All fish are wild caught from Australia and New Zealand from sustainable sources.  Certification is by the Marine Stewardship Council.

Stand out dishes include: grilled fish with beans – their side dishes are wonderful. The warm shallot and tomato dressing calls for undressing.  Thai spiced fish curry will leave you wordless.

You can get take away.  You can buy fish to take home and cook.

    Hi Michael,
Thank you for bringing this important topic up. I feel strongly about the sustainability of our foods systems, and will actively seek out eateries who source/ use sustainable, ethical, local produce.

There is actually a whole ‘eating movement’ out called the ’100 mile diet’, which is just as it sounds – you try to eat foods only sourced from 100 miles surrounding where you live.

Anyway, a few more names to add to the above (just a short list) would be:

There are many more, but at risk of overwhelming people, I’ll stop there!
