Some riches from the day

I’m staying at Varuna House, Katoomba, the writer’s retreat.  It’s the house once owned and lived in by Eleanor Dark and her husband, Eric.  Painted yellow, facing north, set amidst fruit trees and native plants, its a big yellow grin of a place, full of heart, spirit and truly reflecting the courage and independent lives of Eleanor and Eric.

And I’ve just got some riches in this heavy fog day with the rain coming down.

Liz, one of the folk there who runs the place, has shown me the latest catalogue, Green Harvest Organic Gardening Supplies; check it out on:  www.greenharvest.com.au

Fabulous seeds, implements and things for growing plants and food;  a must read.

And I’ve bought a terrific book from Liz, Useful Weeds at our Doorstep, by Pat Colins with very helpful photos and illustrations.

Finally, Liz has given me packets and packets of seeds she’s harvested from her garden and contained in packets she got from a Blackheath business with the title, “Crazy Climate: The cockroaches of the seed world.  If they can grow in Blackheath they can grow anywhere’.

On the back are the words, “Stop laughing This is serious”.  Check them out at:  www.stoplaughing.com….au

Looks like Varuna is in good hands,

May the riches be with you,

Michael
